GTO Tasks in ISSB: Individual Obstacles
Third day of GTO will start with Individual Obstacles. As the name suggest this task is performed by each member of the group, individually (During GTO Tasks in ISSB).
The purpose of this test is to check ability, physical toughness, stamina level, courage, determination, acrophobia (fear of heights), it also checks how fast you can make choice and execute it. There are total 09 obstacles (different in different entries) and time bound is 2 min only. one can repeat the task if he is able to complete all 09 obstacles before 2 min. All obstacles are marked from 1 to 10, more task a candidate complete more his marks will be.
Procedure of Individual Obstacles
In ISSB 3rd Day, all candidates have to come in Johar Hall.In Johar Hall, Staff of the ISSB will show you the video of Individual Obstacles. In this video, all the rules of Individual Obstacles and all the obstacles are shown to the candidates on the projector screen. After that GTO will come and take all the group to Individual Obstacles areas where all the task are shown to candidates. This chance is give to you to make pattern of doing Individual Obstacles. Always try to do individual obstacles in sequence. It is good to start from the easier one. All the task has the specific marks.
After all the briefing of GTO, your Individual Obstacles in ISSB starts. Every candidate perform this task. All the members of the group perform this task, one by one. If one candidate is in task area, then the other one who has to do next, has to wait outside the obstacles area.
Types of Individual Obstacles in ISSB
Long Jump (Ditch Cross).
Hanging Tyre.
Hanging Bridge.
Multi-Down Up (Boxing Ring).
High Jump.
Zig-Zag.
Tarzan Swing.
Monkey bridge
Rope Climbing.
How to attemp Individual Obstacles? -Techniques of doing Individual Obstacles:

Technique of doing Long Jump -Easiest way to do Long Jump in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Ditch is 7ft 6inches long and 4ft deep
Technique:
a: As illustrated in the picture this is the innitial point where from you are supposed to jump the other side.
b: This is where you land after jump and move towards next obstacle.
Note: Candidates can attempt this obstacle from either side ‘a’ or ‘b’ (illustrated in the picture) depending upon their sequence of attempting the obstacles.
Candidates need to be motivated and courageous while attempting any of the obstacle as achieving it is not a big deal for PAK ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL.

Technique of doing Hanging Tyre -Easiest way to do Hanging Tyre in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
A normal size tyre (a person can pass through the inside of the tyre easily) is hanged with a wooden bar using rope.
Technique:
a: First grab the rope form point ‘a’ (or can grab the upper side of tyre) and lift your body up and pass your legs through the inside of tyre from point (b) as shown in the picture.
b: Push your body ahead of this point don’t worry about any damage be bold but present minded.
n: If a candidate is capable enough to pass the tyre this way as shown in the picture he’s allowed to do so.

Technique of doing Hanging Bridge -Easiest way to do Hanging Bridge in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Hanging Bridge is consist of wooden plank 6cm wide and arround 7ft long
It is hold with four pillors as illustrated in the picture and a ditch below.
This bridge is completely unstable, candidates are suggested to follow the following Techniques.
Technique:
a: You will be in running possition when you reach this point ‘a’ here you will jump towards point (b).
b: The only technique to complete this obstacle without making any foul is to place only one step on the plank at point (b).
Otherwise, the plank will go unbalanced and you will fall in the ditch.
c: As soon as you step at point ‘b’ step ahead towards point ‘c’ without placing an other step on the plank and you will successfuly able to complete this obstacle.
Note: Don’t touch the ropes of hanging bridge as it’s out-of-bound, if you touch it’s considered as foul you have to repeat the obstacle again.
Other obstacles have also some restrictions which would be informed prior the start of task.

Technique of doing Multi-Down Up (Boxing Ring) -Easiest way to do Multi-Down Up (Boxing Ring) in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Multi-Down Up (Boxing Ring) is based on three obstrcutions of same height i.e 4m (as seen in the picture)
Technique:
a: Initially you jump above the first height (point ‘a’).
b: Secondly go bellow the second height (point ‘b’).
c: Finally jump over the third height to complete the obtacle (point ‘c’).
Note: Most probably candidates make foul during this obstacle their body touches the heights.
If this condition exists then repeat the obstacle it will leave positive points for you in the GTO Tasks in ISSB.

Technique of doing High Jump -Easiest way to do High Jump in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
High Jump strucure consists of height upto 4.5m.
Technique:
a: You will be in running position when you reach point ‘a’ jump from this point.
b: Land towards point ‘b’.
c: Don’t worry if you fall there’s soil placed (see point ‘c’) in a way you will not be damaged. So let yourself fly when you jump.

Technique of doing Zig Zag -Easiest way to do Zig Zag in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Zig Zag is a course having abrupt alternate left and right turns.
There are couple of wooden strcutures 6inches wide (can be seen in the picture) of different heights.
Technique:
a: You will be in running postition when you reach point ‘a’ (2ft high) jump over it keeping your body stable and move towards point ‘b’.
b: On reaching point ‘b’ (a little bit higher than point ‘a’ and with alternate direction) jump over this point and head towards point ‘c’.
b, c & d: Repeat the activity mentioned above until you reach point ‘d’. The end of point ‘d’ is aroind 5ft high you will jump towards point ‘e’ way your zig-zag obstacle is completed afterwards go for the next obstacle.
Note: Keep your body stable with presence of mind, as mentioned above the Zig-Zag structure has different heights with alternate courses left and right turns.

Technique of doing Tarzan Swing -Easiest way to do Tarzan Swing in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Tarzan Swing has a flying and landing structure along with a rope that’s connected with another structure placed between point ‘a’ and ‘b’ (illustrated in the picture).
Technique:
a: Point ‘a’ is a drum, you will climb on point ‘b’ using point ‘a’.
b: This is the flying point. Stand straight at point ‘b’, staff will give you the rope at this point.
c: Grab the rope from a little higher than you can easily grab it. Holding the rope a little higher will help you to easily reach landing structure.
d: Point ‘d’ is the structure with which rope is attached.
e: Point ‘e’ is the landing structure, as soon as you reach point ‘e’ leave the rope and jump towards point ‘f’.
f: Be bold when you come to the ground (point ‘f’) the soil will save you from any harm.
Note: When you grab the rope grab it from a little higher and never crosss it in between of your legs, Always place it aside (left/right) to your both legs as shown in the picture during the GTO Tasks in ISSB.

Technique of doing Monkey Bridge -Easiest way to do Monkey Bridge in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Monkey Bridge has a ladder with two parallel (Horizontal) ropes attached with another pole & a vertical rope joining the horizontal ropes with a red mark.
Technique:
a: Sharply climb on the ladder and reach to point ‘b’ & ‘c’.
b: Grab the upper rope with your both hands (point ‘b’).
c: Place your feet at the lower rope (point ‘c’).
d: Start moving to point ‘d’, shift your hands and feet with good grib and body balance.
e: As soon as you reach point ‘d’, hang yourself with vertical rope and start coming down.
Note: Don’t leave the rope until you reach point ‘e’ with red mark. Otherwise it will considered as foul and you have to repeat the task.

Technique of Rope Climbing -Easiest way to of attemptig Rope Climbing in ISSB GTO Task
Disccription:
Rope Climbing obstacle has a verticle rope connected with a wooden pole (Can be seen in the picture).
Technique:
a: First you need to jump higher and hold the rope as high as you can (as illustrated).
b: Secondly hold the rope as illustrated in point ‘n’, it will help you to go up and It will help to move from the top of the wood to the other side.
c: Candidates are supposed to move from the top of the wood to the other side (see point ‘c’).
Note: Rope Climbing has the highest marks in Individual Obstacles. Hence it’s to be done in the last.
Tips to prepare for GTO Tasks in ISSB: Individual Obstacles
Start attempting the easier obstacles first in order to save time.
Show some courageness while attemptig the obstacles and avoid any injury during GTO tasks in ISSB.
Basically your ability, physical toughness, stamina level, courage, determination, acrophobia (fear of heights) and also how fast you can make choice and execute it is observed.
GTO may ask you to complete particular hurdle, follow his orders.
It’s not necessary to complete all the hurdles.
Once you complete all the obstacles you can repeat them in order to improve marking.
If you make any foul repeat the hurdle.
It’s highly suggested that make yourself physically fit and build your stamina to score well in this task.
