Different Types of Verbal Intelligence Tests

Following are the 20 Types of Verbal Intelligence Tests which are used to test the inborn mental efficiency or the capacity to react favourably or find solutions to problems of an unfamiliar and novel nature.

Completion of Series

This test comprises of a number of digits or letters of alphabets following a certain order or pattern.
Candidates are supposed to observe the pattern carefully and find out the required the digits or letters of a figure missing at start, middle or at the end of the series.

Examples

In the series 3, 9, 15, …… what will be the 21st term?

Answer: 123

Explanation:

Clearly, 3 + 6 = 9, 9 + 6 = 15,…..

So, the series is an A.P. in which a = 3 and d = 6.

Therefore 21st term = a + (21 – 1) d = a + 20d = 3 + 20 x 6 = 123.

Choose the correct alternative that will continue the same pattern and replace the question mark in the given series.
1, 1, 2, 6, 24, ?, 720

Answer: 120

Explanation:

The pattern is x 1, x 2, x 3, x 4,…..
So, missing term = 24 x 5 = 120.

In this type of questions, one term in the number series is wrong. Find out the wrong term.
121, 143, 165, 186, 209

Answer: 186

Explanation:

Each term in the series is obtained by adding 22 to the preceding term.
So, 186 is wrong and must be replaced by (165 + 22) i.e. 187.

In each of the following questions, various terms of an alphabet series are given with one or more terms missing as shown by (?). Choose the missing terms out of the given alternatives.

Answer: NIK

Explanation:

In each of the following letter series, some of the letters are missing which are given in that order as one of the alternatives below it. Choose the correct alternative.

Explanation:
